Cant Steadings Junction was a small and simple continuous-run layout using just the one board. Our junior members played a considerable role in it’s construction and it gave a good impression and example of what can be easily achieved at home, for example.

The layout was donated to the club a couple of years ago as just track on a board and we decided it would be ideal for introducing to our junior members on how to build a layout. They put a considerable amount of work into it with the excellent teaching from our sadly missed late Chairman Davy Cant.

Davy was one of the founding members of our club fifty years ago and was absolutely dedicated to our club and the hobby. Following his unfortunate passing in April 2021 it was felt appropriate to name the layout ‘Cant Steadings Junction’ in his memory.

Over the festive period of 2021 this layout was on display in the Mercat Shopping Centre in Kirkcaldy, and it had a lot of detail added to it by the club working together to bring it up to standard for this wee display. The display was supported by both Gatehouse Property Management Ltd (then owners of the Mercat) and our friends at the excellent Scoonie Hobbies in Kirkcaldy who supplied a “Christmas Express” train to operate on it.
In July 2025 the layout was sold to a private individual.
